As the family pet and number one Chi, Chelsea enjoys privileges none of the others have at this point. She sleeps with us, goes for rides in the car, is never expected to perform in the show ring or have babies, and gets all kinds of special treats. Being the oldest and having seniority, the others treat Chelsea a bit differently, also. She doesn't seem to have a place in the hierarchy, but rather is outside of it. The puppies try to get her to play, but soon learn she isn't interested and that her growls don't really mean very much! Chelsea is considered a "Tri-Color" and has the most beautiful, silky coat of all our Smooths. She also has a painful hereditary fault called luxating patellas (slipped kneecaps), one of which has already been repaired surgically. A dog with this problem shouldn't ever be bred, but simply loved as a pet. |
