JosLyn Chihuahuas
Our Litterbox
We breed only occasionaly, looking for our next little show prospect, and have had two litters so far. Here are some of the pictures we took as the babies were growing up.
April 5, 2002 Litter, a product of the union of CH Chisholm Dog Gone Impressive (Bucky) and BK's Minimax (Mini).

Mini free-whelped five puppies on April 5th, 2002. Two were deformed and unable to survive, but the three that were left were beautiful. Two boys and a girl, and we were thrilled. We named the first, a black and white boy just like Bucky, JosLyn Firstborn Peppercorn. He was born in the back seat of our car on the way to the vet. What a wild ride that was! The second was a brown and white girl, who is now our princess, JosLyn Cinnamon Sensation. The third was a brown and white boy. Patti thought his spotted pattern was so pretty that she named him JosLyn Prints Charming. Pepper eventually grew too big to be showable, and Prints was too shy and didn't enjoy the ring. They now both live together with two Pomeranians and a wonderful family who just couldn't decide between them. They say Pepper plays constantly, even waking them up in the middle of the night to play, and Prints leaps around the furniture and acts like a big dog when he sees the Cocker Spaniel neighbors! Cinnamon, of course, is still with us and thrilling us with her show career and sweetheart personality. These were the first puppies John had ever seen born, and although Patti had bred Tiffi twelve years earlier, she wasn't much more experienced. A huge thank you to Dr. Blackburn, DVM, of Gentle Care Animal Hospital, who helped us (more than Mini) have this first litter.
April 10, 2003 Litter, a product of the union of Bliss's Scooby Doo of Rlk (owned by James Copeland) and BK's Minimax (Mini).

On April 10th, 2003, Mini free-whelped three puppies for her second litter, also at the vet's office. Good thing, too, because her first puppy, a fawn boy, was huge and almost caused a c-section! The next two, both girls, came easily after that. The dark brown girl was medium sized, and the cream girl was very small. They were all beautiful, but after three weeks the little cream girl weakened, lost weight and died. We were so sad and watched the other little girl carefully to make sure she ate enough to maintain her strength. The boy seemed to hog all the milk and just got bigger! We named him JosLyn Cant Steal My Thunder because he made his presence known from the very start. The little girl, who was born so dark, had lightened considerably by this time, so Patti thought JosLyn Magnolia Sunrise was a fitting name. She got lighter, brighter and more colorful with each passing day. They are both a treasure to us. Maggie looks to have show potential and will most likely stay with us, but Thunder does not, so he has recently found a new, wonderful, home of his own and is destined to become spoiled rotten as the center of his adopted daddy's life.
